As we combat the climate emergency, how can we make sure science is serving everyone, with no language or economic barriers? Ousmane Seidou, a professor of water resources engineering at the University of Ottawa, is fighting a battle on two fronts: understanding and anticipating climate change, and advocating for the role of French in scientific research. His work has a direct impact on public policy. It helps close the gap between English- and French-speaking countries in the amount of research and knowledge generated on environmental sustainability and climate change adaptation.
