The 2024 program is coordinated with the University of Ottawa and partner organizations. The events listed here are free and open to the public. Conference registration is not required to attend.

Looking at science through a different lens, using images instead of words. This original idea was launched in 2010 by the ACFAS through its "La preuve par l'image" competition. Taking place at the Canadian Tulip Festival during the 91st Annual ACFAS Conference, come and admire these true works of scientific art as seen through the eyes of researchers.

How can a participatory music activity have a real impact on health and wellness? Why are we seeing the integration of artists and educators in health care? We invite you to join scientists, educators and musicians, including up and coming talent, to discover the importance of community music programs for hearing-impaired persons, seniors and Indigenous people. Women scholars at various locations in the city welcome us to discuss their research and daily lives, but especially, to listen to our questions and hear us talk about our experience with scholarship. The activity will extend over Major’s Hill Park, the National Gallery of Canada plaza, the Canadian Museum of History and the Alexandra Bridge. Like the loudspeakers this event is named for, these researchers will give a voice to scholarship, in all disciplines, throughout the day.

The Ma thèse en 180 secondes (MT180) competition gives PhD students the opportunity to present their research topic in simple terms. Each student is asked to give a clear, concise yet convincing presentation of his or her research project in three minutes. Come and cheer on the twenty or so finalists from across Canada! Registration is free and compulsory.

Chloé Savard, aka Tardibabe, will show us what's invisible to the naked eye. Extraordinary organisms will be revealed through the lens of her microscope. Some of these organisms, like the tardigrade, live in extreme environments. What is an extreme environment? How do they live there? This online activity is also an opportunity to learn about Chloé Savard's professional journey as a microbiologist and artist, in science and science communication.
