To ensure that you are properly directed, we ask that you complete the Case Resolution Request Form.

This form will be required prior to meeting with a member of the Human Rights Office team (unless your case falls under Policy 67b Prevention of Sexual Violence or if this step is not required by your collective agreement | VirtuO, if so, please advise us).

File a complaint - harassment or discrimination

If you think you’ve experienced harassment or discrimination, you can contact the Human Rights Office (HRO) to discuss your options, including filing a complaint. 

Harassing and discriminatory behaviors are against the law. The University addresses concerns about harassment and discrimination with University Policy 67a and the procedures listed below:

File a complaint

If you wish to file a complaint, please send an email to a uOttawa prevention of harassment and discrimination officer. The officer will contact you in order to discuss your concerns as well as provide you with support and information on how to proceed.

Confidentiality and follow-up

We guarantee the confidentiality of all messages we receive. Please be sure to provide your full contact information so that we can contact you and let you know how we will proceed. We do not respond to anonymous communications.

Processing time

We will send you an acknowledgement within five working days of receiving your feedback. If applicable, we will also follow up with you. If you filed a complaint, we will advise you of the estimated time it will take to handle your complaint, which can vary depending on the complexity of the situation.
