Anna Keller is senior legal counsel at the Canadian Commercial Corporation. In this role, she is responsible for international legal issues related to complex transactions and contracting.
Prior to joining the legal team at the Canadian Commercial Corporation, Ms. Keller was corporate legal counsel at Shopify, one of the world’s leading e-commerce providers. She was responsible for subsidiary management and corporate governance, as well as international legal issues related to global expansion, including tax matters and compliance.
Ms. Keller was previously a lawyer at an international law firm, where her practice focused on corporate and securities law. She has advised numerous boards of directors on governance matters as well as on member and shareholder disputes. Ms. Keller has also represented investors and companies in private equity and venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions, and other forms of transactions.
Called upon frequently as a speaker and thought leader, Ms. Keller regularly presents at industry events and professional development programs and has been a university lecturer since 2011.
Ms. Keller is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the International Bar Association. She is also a member of Women Get on Board, an organization dedicated to connecting and promoting women as directors. She is a past member of the board of directors of the Canadian Association of Journalists and has served as a director on the board of various volunteer organizations, including as chair of the governance committee.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Ms. Keller was an award-winning journalist and wrote for numerous publications, including the Toronto Star.
An alumnus of the University of Ottawa, Ms. Keller holds an LL.B. She also has an Honours Bachelor of Journalism and Law, with a concentration in law, government and policy from Carleton University.
