Update non the negotiations with the APTPUO, the union representing our part time professors

UOttawa has been in negotiations with the APTPUO, the union representing our part time professors, since May 2022.  It is the University’s goal to negotiate a collective agreement that recognizes the important role our part time professors play in the uOttawa community while abiding by the legislated caps on total compensation increases imposed on universities and other sectors of the public service by the Government of Ontario under Bill 124.

The negotiations with the APTPUO have followed the normal course of bargaining and the University continues to negotiate in good faith. While the issuance of a No Board report sets the legal strike date for August 11, 2022, at 12:01am, the University and the APTPUO have agreed to engage in third-party mediation on August 28, 2022. The University has also agreed to extend the strike/lockout deadline and has no immediate plans to change the working conditions of APTPUO members.

We remain optimistic that outstanding issues can be resolved, and that regular teaching and research activities can resume this fall as planned.
