Isabelle Corriveau and Pascal Justin Boyer are alumni of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ottawa. Working in the television industry, they consider themselves fortunate to have been able to create a documentary on the Francophonie, a subject that is particularly dear to them. "This project allowed us to explore Francophones across the country, delving into the connections that bind them, the elements that set them apart, and the specific challenges they face. This journey has provided us with a unique perspective on the various Francophone communities in Canada."
Synopsis
As Francophones in Canada, can we still identify ourselves as “French Canadians”? Actor and host Pascal Justin Boyer, a Quebecer by birth and Franco-Ontarian by adoption, travels across the country to meet people who can enlighten him and shed light on their various realities. Is he le dernier Canadien français?
Isabelle Corriveau

With a diploma in journalism from La Cité and a master’s in communication from the University of Ottawa (MA ‘15), Isabelle Corriveau is passionate about telling the stories of vulnerable groups, as well as explaining complex topics to different audiences. As a journalist, she worked on national-scale stories, conducted in-depth interviews and produced and aired a daily radio show. For four years, she’s worked on various documentaries dealing with immigration, the work of legal aid lawyers in Montreal and the housing crisis. In March 2022, she went to the Ukraine-Romania border to document the migration crisis caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. On her return, her first short documentary "I Don't Think So" was featured at the Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma film festival. Passionate, committed and determined, Isabelle Corriveau is a multilingual professional who looks to work on unique, useful projects.
Pascal Justin Boyer

A veritable one-man band, Pascal Justin Boyer has contributed to the wonderful world of youth entertainment for over 15 years. He first worked in front of the camera in series such as Motel Monstre (TFO and Radio-Canada), Mehdi & Val (Radio-Canada) and FLIP (TFO), before stepping behind the camera, finding rewarding work as a screenwriter, script editor, producer and editorial consultant. A uOttawa Faculty of Arts alumnus (BA ’13, MA ’15), Pascal Justin Boyer is himself a child of television. He strongly believes in the importance of the world of the imagination, and strives to create products that celebrate the creativity and respect the intelligence of TV viewers, while entertaining both young and old. His work has been recognized by industry colleagues, including at the prix Gémeaux (2013, 2017, 2019 and 2021) and the Kids Screen Awards (2020), as well as by the Youth Media Alliance (2022), which awarded him its Prix d’excellence de la personnalité jeunesse.
Jill Lefaive

Jill Lefaive is a Franco-Ontarian director, picture editor, and musician from Lafontaine, Ontario. With a passion for filmmaking from a young age, she attended York University's Film Production program, where she graduated in 2014. Since then, she has amassed a diverse portfolio of picture editing and directing credits from scripted, lifestyle, and documentary television shows, short films, and music videos. Her most recent projects include co-directing the Moi&Dave documentary “Le dernier canadien français” and picture editing for Boat Rocker Media's award-winning children's show “The Next Step”. Jill is an active member in her Franco-Ontarian community, and is proud to share her musical heritage as a fiddler and vocalist with her family folk band “Ariko”.
