Overview

Francophone institutions in anglophone majority contexts are called to innovate for linguistic sustainability and identity, welcoming a growing immigrant population, and promoting quality French-language education. In the academia, research in French is also challenged by the predominance of English as the language of recognition and dissemination. In this context, we must consider the place and value of research in French. How can inquisitive minds — either as emerging or experienced researchers — reinvent our sense of belonging in francophone scientific spheres and work to meet these challenges?

La revue Voix amplifées is an academic journal created by francophone graduate students from the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Education. The journal is focused on creating a space where francophone student voices can be heard, deconstructed and redefined. Based on the principles of equity and inclusion, the journal has a dual mandate to open inclusive dialogues about the complex realities experienced within the student community, and to offer publication opportunities to members of the francophone and francophile student population, whether they are unilingual, bilingual or plurilingual. The inaugural issue was published in 2022 and is an initiative supported by CARFfi – Les chantiers d’action et de recherches.

Graduate students are invited to submit abstracts of 250 words by March 25th.
