Meet Jeffrey

What is your job title?

Senior Manager, Telfer IT Support Services

How do you see your role going forward?

I want to provide an engaging, proactive and collaborative approach to delivering IT solutions and support to our students and faculty.

What is your guilty indulgence?

A good glass of red wine or local craft beer.

What is your unknown / hidden talent?

I have two. #1 The ability to add to my guitar collection without my wife knowing. #2 The ability to play them all without any apparent talent.

What is the best advice you’ve been given?

In a year from now, you’ll wish you started today.

If you could snap your fingers and become an expert in something, what would it be?

Playing the guitar.

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

I can’t watch scary movies. They freak me out.

What are you learning now, and why is it important?

I’m learning about the University of Ottawa best practices for Information Management to ensure our school meets its Information Life Cycle requirements.

What project or initiative are you currently working on?

Back in 2020, I initiated a project with our Dean’s office to implement an Employee Life Cycle process to better manage activities related to staffing changes at the faculty. This process will allow my team to better capture, control and manage access/removal to Telfer owned data, accounts and IT equipment. The process will initially include the most common scenarios such as new hires, retirement and position/role changes. The hope is that all possible scenarios are identified and included in the Employee Life Cycle by year end.

This initiative was presented to the faculty as an opportunity to include many non-IT aspects of the Employee Life Cycle. Telfer groups such as Operations and Finance have started documenting their activities to be included in the overall process.
