Box.com

If you find that the performance and capacity of OneDrive does not appear to be sufficient for your research needs, please contact us about our Box offering. Note that we only have a limited number of licences as OneDrive is our main cloud storage provider.

• $500/year/research group
• Share with group members and external collaborators
• Access through web interface or sync with Box Drive client

Limitations:

• Maximum individual file size of 150 GB
• Filenames cannot contain '/'
• Windows: Box Drive client always uses C:\ drive for cache which is sometimes problematic with small C:\ drives and transferring large datasets

Local Storage for Researchers

Research groups at the University of Ottawa can get5 TB of storage for free on a NAS in our local data centre. Additional storage is available for a one-time fee of $1,000 per 5 TB increments.

This service in only available on the campus network and cannot be accessed from outside of the campus network.


Research Data Centre

Researchers can host servers in the Research Data Centre. This facility is ideal if you require 24-hour access to your servers in a secure, reliable and cost-efficient environment. The facility boasts of a secure, temperature-controlled environment and our power-distribution systems are protected with UPS backup, providing enhanced stability for applications and processes.

Information Technology provides consultation services to help design, procure, configure and install a system that best fits your needs.
