Enjoy free guest wireless service through uOttawa’s wireless network.

Overview

Wireless access is available to uOttawa visitors through:

  • uoPublic wireless network: Free limited bandwidth connection — 12 hours of wireless access per session
  • eduroam:  Secure roaming wireless access for visitors from participating eduroam institutions
  • Sponsored accounts: Limited-time access (maximum one year)

By using the uoPublic network, you agree to all terms and conditions, and to engage in appropriate behaviour, in accordance with uOttawa Policy 116 — Use and Security of Information Technology Assets.

Connecting to uoPublic Wi-Fi 

  1. On your device, go to your Wi-Fi settings and select the uoPublic network.
  2. Enter your name and email address. Then, select the box to accept the Terms of use. Click the Connect button.
  3. On the connection details screen, select the Connect button. Your device is now connected to uOttawa guest Wi-Fi.

uoPublic restrictions

  • The uoPublic network is unsecured. Don’t use it for personal or sensitive data nor assume that you’ll be protected from viruses, spyware and spam.
  • The service has limited bandwidth and is meant for basic email and internet browsing, not for multimedia streaming or downloads.
  • Users are isolated from the uOttawa network and can’t access local resources, such as printers and shared drives. 

Support

  • Guest Wi-Fi service is provided “as is.” Individual support isn’t available.

Note for uOttawa community

For a more secure, high-speed connection, uOttawa students, professors or staff, as well as visitors from participating eduroam institutions, should use the eduroam wireless network wherever possible.
