Recent events in long term care facilities have reminded us of the importance to better protect older people. Since the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948, states have adopted international conventions to protect the rights of women, children and persons with disabilities. The next frontier is the human rights of older people, and they need their own Charter of Rights.
