For Mental Health Week, May 3-9, 2021, the University of Ottawa Media Relations team is highlighting experts whose research focuses on various aspects of mental health.

Emmanuelle Bernheim (English and French)

Professor Bernheim is an internationally renowned specialist in the field of mental health law and access to justice. She is leading the creation of a social law clinic to serve marginalized groups in the Outaouais region.
 

Rébecca Robillard (English and French)

Assistant Professor and co-director of the Sleep Laboratory, School of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences. Head Scientist in the Sleep Research Unit at The Royal Institute of Mental Health Research.

Professor Robillard’s recent research revealed the COVID-19 pandemic has severely disrupted sleep leading to increased stress and medication use with potential long-term mental health and insomnia impact worries.

Professor Cénat’s work has explored the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health of health-care workers and the prevalence of depressive symptoms in Black communities in Canada.

Associate Professor, School of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences, and Canada Research Chair in Mental Health Disparities.
