Rogers v Voltage – Supreme Court hearing
This is the first case about peer-to-peer file sharing and copyright to reach the Supreme Court of Canada. The issue involves the circumstances in which Internet service providers can turn over personal information (names and addresses associated with alleged Internet use) to copyright owners who accuse subscribers of illegal downloading. More specifically, can the ISP recover the costs of being careful with personal information before giving it to copyright owners.
