The University of Ottawa is pleased to announce that two deserving students have been awarded a chance to study in a STEM-related field worry-free thanks to a four-year Schulich Leader Scholarship, valued each at $100,000. They are among the 50 students in Canada to receive this scholarship in 2019.
This year’s recipients are:
Neve Foreman - Science
Ellen Perry – Engineering
The Schulich Leader Scholarships annual program recognizes students across Canada who demonstrate excellence in academics and/or community leadership and who plan to study science, technology, engineering or mathematics as undergraduates.
Recipients are selected from a pool of nominees based on three criteria: outstanding community and business leadership, academic excellence and financial need. High schools and CEGEPs across Canada can nominate students for the scholarship.
In addition to this large financial award, they join an elite network and receive many ongoing benefits.
Schulich Leader Scholarships, managed by UJA Federation of Greater Toronto, were made possible with the funding provided by Canadian business leader and philanthropist Seymour Schulich. This historic $100 million scholarship initiative was implemented to secure the future economic competitiveness of Canada and Israel and is designed to ensure that future Canadian and Israeli leaders are among the next pioneers in global scientific research and innovation.
Since 2012, 370 Schulich Leaders have been awarded this prestigious STEM scholarship across Canada.
