Seven University of Ottawa researchers are on the Web of Science Group's 2019 list of the most frequently cited scientists internationally.
The list identifies scientists and social scientists who have demonstrated significant influence through publication of multiple papers, highly cited by their peers, during the last decade.
This year, just over 6,000 researchers have been named to this list of the world's most eminent researchers, including 7 from uOttawa:
Dr. Stefanie Haustein: She is an assistant professor at the University of Ottawa’s School of Information Studies, where she teaches research methods and evaluation, knowledge organization, information visualization, social network analysis and publishing business. Her research focuses on scholarly communication, bibliometrics, altmetrics and open science and analyzes the role of social media in academia.
Dr. Richard T. Burnett: He is an Adjunct Professor at the School of Epidemiology and Public Health (Faculty of Medecine). He is also a senior research scientist with the Healthy Environments and Consumer Safety Branch of Health Canada, where he has been working since 1984 on issues relating to environmental risk assessment.
Dr. Mark Tremblay: He is the Director of Healthy Active Living and Obesity Research (HALO) at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute and Professor of Pediatrics in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa. He has published more than 450 scientific papers and book chapters in the areas of childhood obesity, physical activity measurement, exercise physiology, sedentary physiology, outdoor play and health surveillance.
Dr. Jeremy Grimshaw: He leads The Ottawa Hospital’s Centre for Implementation Research and is a world-renowned expert in systematic reviews, knowledge translation and implementation science.
Dr. David Moher: He leads The Ottawa Hospital’s Centre for Journalology and is a world-leader in research methods, reporting, systematic reviews and meta-science.
Dr. Peter Tugwell: He leads the University of Ottawa’s Centre for Health Equity and is also known around the world for his research in health equity and knowledge translation.
Keith Fagnou: He was an esteemed professor of chemistry at the Faculty of Science. Professor Fagnou was awarded a University of Ottawa Research Chair in the Development of Novel Catalytic Transformations in 2007. An outstanding researcher, he won several prestigious awards, including the Polanyi prize in 2003.
