Data scraping is one way in which data is extracted from publicly accessible websites by a broad range of users – but is such extraction legal or ethical? A panel of experts from different fields will discuss where the public interest lies in data scraping.

The Alex Trebek Forum for Dialogue is pleased to welcome Max Hartshorn, Jon Penney, Yuan Stevens, and Bianca Wylie to a lively public panel on data scraping.

Our panelists from the legal academy, civil society and journalism will consider the importance of data scraping for research, transparency and accountability, as well as the privacy risks of the practice, and competing claims of data ownership rights.
