The University of Ottawa Symposium on Economic Policy is a one-day event bringing together prominent scholars, business leaders economists to generate thought-provoking conversations about current issues related to fiscal and monetary policy.

The inaugural symposium will feature the Marleau Signature Lecture delivered by renowned economist and distinguished university professor Olivier Blanchard, C. Fred Bergsten Senior Fellow at PIIE, Robert M. Solow Professor of Economics emeritus at MIT and former chief economist at the IMF.

Established in 2019 through the generous contribution of Hubert Marleau (Chair, Palos Management), the Marleau Lecture Series and the symposium aim to:

  • Bring together prominent scholars, economists and business leaders in the field of economics
  • Provide a forum for knowledge sharing and thought-provoking discussions on economic and monetary policy
  • Influence national and international economic policy agendas
  • Further professional training for faculty and graduate students in the departments of economics at the University of Ottawa and Carleton University
