The University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Medicine will be hosting a luncheon reception on Wednesday, January 8, to launch its 75th anniversary celebrations.
Dean of Medicine Dr. Bernard Jasmin and Dr. Susan Lamb, Jason A. Hannah Chair in History of Medicine in the Department of Innovation in Medical Education will speak about the Faculty’s history and its vision for the coming years.
Born in army barracks transformed into classrooms in the aftermath of the Second World War, uOttawa’s medical school has a fascinating an improbable story. The school was created on little more than “a nickel and a prayer”, but it now proudly stands as one of the top medical faculties in Canada, and one of the best faculties of medicine in the world for its research impact in biomedical and health sciences.
Throughout 2020, the Faculty of Medicine will celebrate this anniversary with stories, photos and special events.
