The Department of Visual Arts at the University of Ottawa presents the work of Inuit artists' collective Isuma for the 2019 Stonecroft Lecture in collaboration with the National Gallery of Canada.
Isuma's most recent film One Day in the Life of Noah Piugattuk will be screened followed by a discussion with assistant director and Isuma member Lucy Tulugarjuk and artist and curator Asinnajaq.
Isuma is representing Canada at the 58th Venice Biennale 2019.
The film has English subtitles and the discussion will be in English. The event is open to the public and free of charge.
One Day in the Life of Noah Piugattuk recreates a day in 1961 when Inuit life on the land changed forever.
This lecture series is made possible thanks to a significant gift from the Stonecroft Foundation for the Arts in support of contemporary art discourse.
