On Wednesday, October 9, five renowned legal experts will discuss and dissect some the most important cases that will be before the Supreme Court of Canada this fall.
The cases (Uber Technologies Inc., et al. v. David Heller; Joanne Fraser, et al. v. Attorney General of Canada; Canadian Coalition for Genetic Fairness v. Attorney General of Quebec, et al.; Attorney General for Saskatchewan v. Attorney General of Canada) will all have significant effects on the lives of all Canadians – from students, to the legal community, to the public.
It can be difficult to keep track of the many cases the Supreme Court hears each term, and to appreciate their significance. By hosting this event, the Public Law Centre aims to make legal issues more accessible to the public.
This will be the first of two sessions that will be held by the newly created Public Law Centre. Later this month, a second session, with a particular focus on issues pertinent to the civil law and to Quebec, will be held.
