The University of Ottawa will reduce tuition fees for international PhD candidates to attract the best doctoral candidates from around the world.

As of September 1, 2018, international PhD candidates at uOttawa will pay tuition fees at the same rate as those paid by Canadian PhD candidates. The University wants to ensure that all international PhD candidates attending uOttawa can complete their studies at a lower cost and benefit from the University’s facilities and its excellence in research and teaching.

Nearly 500 international PhD candidates, both Anglophone and Francophone, are currently enrolled at uOttawa. The tuition fee reduction will help ensure that uOttawa is a destination of choice for top PhD candidates. This initiative is a first step in implementing the University’s internationalization strategy.

The University is confident that this new tuition fee policy will enhance its doctoral programs and strengthen its international reputation for world-class research and scholarship.

This new initiative will be submitted to the Board of Governors for approval in the coming days.
