OTTAWA, November 16, 2020 — The University of Ottawa is pleased to announce that a new collective agreement has been approved by the University and ratified by members of the SSUO-OSSTF, the union representing its 1,300 support staff.

The 3-year agreement is retroactive to May 1st2019 and expires April 30, 2022.

The Executive Committee of the Board of Governors approved the agreement on behalf of the board on November 10 and members of SSUO voted in favour of the deal via electronic ballot, which took place between Thursday, November 12 and Monday, November 16.

I fully appreciate that this current round of bargaining, which involved labour disruption, has been difficult. I want to thank negotiation teams of both parties for the efforts invested over the past few weeks. Our support staff are at the heart of uOttawa’s successes and their contribution is greatly valued, said Jacques Frémont, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University.
