The University of Ottawa today announced the formal launch of its next-generation public sector program under the name “i-Governance”, offered through the University’s Professional Development Institute.
Speaking at the inaugural meeting of the i-Governance Advisory Council of distinguished public and private sector members, the President of the University, Jacques Frémont, described i-Governance as a recognized hub of professional development and advancement for the next-generation public sector.
“Tens of thousands of public sector decision-makers have looked to the University of Ottawa and its Professional Development Institute over the years for courses and events to advance their knowledge and to provide them with the tools to manage their organizations in a rapidly changing environment,” said Mr. Frémont. “As we look to the future and the importance of ‘smart’ government, our i-Governance program will be focused on an expanded range of forward-looking courses and events to equip a next generation of public sector managers for the challenges ahead, and will use its power to convene to organize more conferences and events for senior public sector leaders.”
The University’s public sector programs and i-Governance initiatives are developed in close collaboration with public sector leaders for alignment with next-generation priorities in skills and knowledge requirements. In his remarks today, the President expressed appreciation for the diverse perspectives of the distinguished members of the I-Governance Advisory Council, and thanked the growing number of external supporters, in particular KPMG, who was an early lead contributor of resources and thought leadership through its public sector practice.
Mr. Frémont added that the Professional Development Institute would soon be announcing a program of high-profile events for 2019 featuring distinguished Canadians on topics core to the future of government.
