uOttawa condemns disturbing and offensive behaviour on our campus

Today’s disruption of a peaceful sit-in by our students was disturbing, offensive and unacceptable. We are one community, and we unequivocally condemn the behaviour and language used by two individuals on our campus who do not belong to our university community.

We absolutely condemn racism, harassment, racial slurs, and discrimination on our campus and in our broader society.

The safety and security of our students is paramount. The University is in communication with the students who are taking part in the sit-in and we are taking measures to ensure their security and well-being.

We fully respect their right to protest peacefully.

We are working with Ottawa Police Services on this matter.
