Painful joints, performance anxiety, hearing loss, visual complications… musicians often deal with these problems. The fact that musicians face these hardships is still taboo, and they have a hard time finding help. Too often, the stigma and the lack of resources prevent them from reaching out.

That’s exactly why the School of Music and the Piano Pedagogy Research Lab at the University of Ottawa decided to create the Musicians’ Wellness Centre.

The Centre aims to educate, conduct research and provide treatments to musicians of all ages and levels, all under one roof. It also serves music students and teachers, university professors, healthcare professionals and the public.

The Centre launched its activities with an open house event on October 5th, an auspicious date that also marked the 50th Anniversary of the University of Ottawa School of Music.
