From exploring high-dimensional entanglement in quantum photonics to mapping governance approaches to sex workers by armed groups in Eastern DR Congo and by trying to find the challenges & create the strategies for realizing ethical & inclusive research to finding solutions to legalize illegal mass surveillance, four uOttawa Postdoctoral students are positioning themselves as the next generation of leaders in research.

Awarded with the Banting Fellowship, an initiative of the Government of Canada to attract and retain top-tier postdoctoral talent, both nationally and internationally, to contribute to Canada's economic, social and research-based growth, each will receive $70,000 a year for two years of research.

The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships program, which was created by the Government of Canada in 2008, is designed to attract and retain world-class doctoral students. This year six outstanding doctoral students were awarded this prestigious award. Their research will focus on the #METOO movement, the understanding of glacier instabilities and the investigation of the long-term performance of eco-efficient low-porosity concrete systems towards a more sustainable future of the construction industry.
