Mobility Research Chair in Bilingualism
OLBI was created in 2007 to promote excellence and innovation in the fields of bilingualism and language acquisition. Research contributes to all areas of OLBI’s activities. The purpose of the Mobility Research Chair will be to advance and deepen OLBI's tradition of excellence by attracting a visiting scholar who will contribute to OLBI’s mission to make theoretical and methodological advances in the field of bilingualism studies, and more specifically in three main research areas:
• second/foreign language learning, teaching and assessment;
• linguistic and social aspects of individual and societal bilingualism;
• language policy and planning
The holder of the Mobility Chair will contribute to OLBI’s tradition of interdisciplinary work with respect to bilingualism and the promotion of national and international collaborations between researchers. The Chair will support the activities of the OLBI Research Center (CCERBAL), notably through knowledge mobilization and dissemination efforts.
Priority will be given to a researcher whose current position is held outside of Canada’s National Capital Region. An applicant should be recognized as a specialist in the field of applied linguistics, have a strong research agenda, and demonstrate a proven ability to work as part of a team.
The Chair may be held for a minimum duration of two months and up to one year and is non-renewable. The chairholder will receive a stipend of up to $25,000 for one year (or $2080 per month) prorated by the proposed length of stay. If necessary, the incumbent will receive support from OLBI and Human Resources in obtaining a work permit in Canada.
Applicants are asked to send an application in PDF format that includes their curriculum vitae and a residency proposal. The document (maximum five pages) should include a proposed schedule of stay, the nature of the proposed collaboration with OLBI, as well as its anticipated activities and outcomes.
Applications should be sent to the following address:
