Consolidating your personal network drive onto OneDrive

An exciting, new project is underway to modernize how you store and manage your documents at the University. You will want to follow this initiative closely!

Information Technology and Information Management are collaborating on the H: drive to OneDrive project to deliver this change.

As part of the whole Microsoft 365 user experience, OneDrive is now the way to go given its ease of use, integration advantages and its accessibility from anywhere. It should be the location where you put your working drafts, personal files, and other documents that are not meant to be accessed by team members.

The project has several objectives:

  • Encourage the university population to get rid of their clutter and erase unnecessary files before storing files on OneDrive, in accordance with the University’s Records Retention Schedule
  • Have everyone migrate their files from their H: drive to OneDrive
  • Apprise the community of the risks of storing some files in Teams such as privacy breaches, duplication, and unsecure file sharing
  • Increase employee awareness of information management best practices.

Communications will soon be sent to guide you in what needs to be done. The advantage for you will be a more organized work environment that follows modern, best practices!

Note: For some units, the personal drive is mapped to the S: or Y: drive. This may be the case for the faculties of Engineering, Medicine, and Science as well as Sports Services.

Mohamed Benmessaoud, the project manager for this initiative, is available to answer any questions you may have.
