For new University employees, knowing what phone number to use to get the right type of support can be confusing. There are numbers for everything it seems. Information Technology and Facilities are uniting to make things simpler. They will be consolidating the phone numbers for their support groups. The uOttawa community will only need to remember one extension, regardless of whether the request is related to IT support or building infrastructure. These support teams will remain independent; however, extensions 6555 and 2222 will eventually be decommissioned. By the fall, a new phone number will be available.
A project team is already working on what is needed to identify the new number, set up the technical telephony changes, and assess the changes that will be required to signage, websites, documentation, etc. Stay tuned for our upcoming announcements to unveil the new number.
