On February 26th, 2021, LARG organized an informal event to discuss and share current assessment practices in the classroom. The event was well-attended by students, teachers, and other professionals, with 5 engaging and inspiring presentations.

Details of the Presentations:

During the first hour (in English), Martine Rhéaume presented Listening and production of a Podcast, on the linguistic and cultural advantages of using Podcast in FSL classes and the related assessment strategies (Prezi presentation). Poonam Anand shared how she modified a paper assignment to an online assignment for an extensive reading task in an Academic English Reading class. Margret Norenberg presented the advantages and challenges of a student-teacher conference assessment, as part of a formal evaluation, and how it gives her a chance to check on the well-being of her student, particularly during the pandemic. In the second hour (in French), Beverly Baker shared an activity developed in an ESL writing class, “You be the Grader”, where the students learned to use a rubric and took the role of grader. (Dropbox presentation).

Julia Bergeron, Louis-David Bibeau, Jill Landry et David Reyes concluded the event with the presentation of the development of test specifications for classroom assessment. (Dropbox PowerPoint presentation).
