Microsoft Copilot for the web: Your new AI companion

Artificial Intelligence
copilot
Microsoft Copilot for the Web is your new generative AI-based virtual companion. It can assist with various daily tasks such as drafting emails, document summaries, online searches, content generation, and image creation.

Support staff, faculty members, and students now have free access to the university-licensed Copilot for the Web. By logging in to Copilot, the uOttawa community can benefit from faster responses, faster image creation and some data security protections. Unlike other generative AI tools, information exchanged with Copilot is not stored or used to develop AI models, ensuring data privacy.

Getting started with Copilot for the Web

To get started with Copilot, log in using your uOttawa credentials.

Take a moment to watch this brief two-minute video that guides you through the features in addition to examples of your new AI companion use cases.

Try it yourself! Type a simple prompt such as:

  • Draft an email to my team about the steps we’ll take for their annual performance review
  • Provide a comparison of lunch options at different uOttawa campus restaurants using a table that compares location, meal, price ranges
