We are working on project to migrate the IPAM solution for the Domain Name System (DNS) and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) to a new platform.
This change will result in a modernized DNS/DHCP architecture that is more robust, secure, and flexible.
The Network team is collaborating with the vendor to complete the migration in two phases to minimize the impact on end users.
- February 5, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Phase 1, migrate the DHCP section to the new platform. The DHCP service will experience intermittent availability. End users may experience delays in obtaining IP addresses on campus.
- February 12, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Phase 2, migrate the DNS section to the new platform. No service interruptions are expected.
In preparation for the change, IPAM access will switch to read-only beginning February 1, at 8 a.m. IPAM change requests can be submitted to the Network team via TopDesk as of February 1 until further notice. By end of March 2022, once the system has stabilized, IPAM access will be restored to IT users.
