New StudentLabs Service

Teaching
Computer with login screen.
If you are teaching a course requiring students to access University computers or software (such as SPSS, ChemDraw, ArcGIS, etc.) for learning purposes, the new StudentLabs Service facilitates student access to these resources from off-campus. StudentLabs is an online portal that offers students remote access to these resources from their personal computers or via a web browser.

What should I do if my students need to access uOttawa software remotely?

  1. Notify your Faculty IT representative to discuss the software resources you will need to make available remotely through StudentLabs.
  2. For courses where students need to access StudentLabs, share information about the steps to access the labs. (You can copy, paste and edit the text below to get started)

How can students access StudentLabs?
The StudentLabs portal allows University of Ottawa students to use their personal computers to gain secure remote access to computers and software from selected university labs. To get started:

  • Students must enroll in MFA before they begin the installation and configuration process. If students try to login to the StudentLabs portal before enrolling their account for MFA, they will be unable to complete the login process.
  • Visit the Use of the StudentLabs.uOttawa.ca portal webpage for detailed installation and configuration instructions based on your computer’s operating system
