Physical distancing doesn’t have to be an obstacle to connecting with students.

To ensure teaching and learning continuity, Teaching Learning Support Service (TLSS) working with Information Technology have implemented a new Microsoft Teams functionality in Brightspace for the academic community to connect with students. Whether it is to deliver online lectures, provide office hours, or one-on-one support – you can create, schedule and share a Microsoft Teams meeting directly from Brightspace. Connecting and engaging with students all via Brightspace can help facilitate their transition to virtual learning.

Want to share your screen, or documents with others? Want to meet online with audio and visual? Microsoft Teams is an online conferencing tool that allows you to achieve all of this and more. Microsoft Teams is not only free for the uOttawa community, it is also an application that is supported by the University. Additionally, it is a secure option for meeting with students. Meeting links can be sent safely through Brightspace which is password protected; confidentiality is protected, and the application is secure.

Microsoft Teams also offers several features that may be useful for connecting with your students including screen sharingnotetakingmeeting recordings and more!
