With the evolution of working habits, the University of Ottawa is reassessing its printing services.

Recently, we announced that Information Technology is preparing to undertake a reassessment of its printing services. We have a fleet of 585 printers that requires significant upgrades over the next three years.

A preliminary analysis reveals that between September 2022 and June 2023, only 51 of these printers had reached 1000 prints, which is very low compared to the minimum profitability threshold for printers on campus.

According to a study by Gartner, the current market is experiencing a decline in the use of printing equipment overall, with annual costs for purchasing and maintaining equipment rising by 8 to 12%.

We are in the process of selecting our future provider, who will help us optimize uOttawa's printing services. Stay tuned for more information.
