Power BI is a game changer for uOttawa. It is the first tool we've leveraged that can bring all our data together in one place. With it, we can now create custom reports that combine information from various sources, like student records and campus facilities, onto a single dashboard.
What makes Power BI special is how dynamic and easy to use our dashboards can become. A user with the right access can change the questions they ask and get answers that make sense to them. Plus, even if they start with one question, they can explore the data further to find other useful insights. We made sure that our data is reliable by always going back to the original source, like Workday for employee information and uOCampus for students. This way, we can trust that the data we're working with is accurate and up to date.
One great example of how Power BI has helped faculties and services is with the Student Health and Wellness Centre. Previously lacking in metrics tracking, the Centre struggled to gauge student engagement with its services. With a Power BI dashboard in place, they now have real-time insights into service utilization, enabling them to address faculty inquiries with precision.
"The launch of the Student Health and Wellness Centre’s dashboard marked a significant achievement in our reporting capabilities. This development not only streamlined our processes by reducing the dependence on manual exports but also enhanced accuracy" - Ariane Thibault - Senior Specialist, Business Strategy & Planning | Student Health, Wellness and Support
In essence, Power BI has steered a new era of data-driven decision-making at the University. With its ability to combine different data sources into actionable insights, it has become an indispensable tool for driving institutional excellence. As we continue to harness its potential, we're excited to unlock greater possibilities to drive even more positive change.
