A lawyer and career diplomat, Philippe Kirsch is recognized for his skills in conflict resolution. He has written extensively on international law and security and holds several honorary titles. In March 2003 Mr. Kirsch was elected as the president of the newly established International Criminal Court (ICC). Because if his political courage and determination, Mr. Kirsch was instrumental in the creation of the ICC ensuring that the gravest international crimes do not go unpunished. The ICC constitutes an important development in international law.
