Munroe-Blum, Heather

Heather Munroe-Blum, PhD, OC, OQ, FRSC, is an accomplished university administrator and distinguished scholar in the fields of psychiatric epidemiology and public policy.  She served as the 16th Principal (President) and Vice-Chancellor of McGill University (2003-13), the first woman to hold this position, and as Vice-President (Research and International Relations) of the University of Toronto (1994-2002).  Dr. Munroe-Blum has authored or co-authored more than 60 scholarly publications, including four books, and has been a strong advocate for universities as vehicles to advance countries’ international competitiveness and enrich societies. A Specially Elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and an Officer of the Order of Canada, she holds numerous honorary degrees from Canadian and international universities.  She has also served on the boards and advisory committees of numerous Canadian and international not-for-profit and for-profit organizations and corporations.
