The Honourable Claudette Tardif is a Senator. Claudette Tardif has long been recognized as one of Canada’s foremost advocates and defenders of minority linguistic and cultural rights, and for her considerable contribution to both secondary and post-secondary education.  Before entering public life, Senator Tardif worked in higher education, first as a professor, then as Dean of Faculté Saint-Jean and in a number of senior positions within the University of Alberta.  Dr. Tardif is a tireless advocate for the Francophone community in Alberta and elsewhere. She has published numerous articles and book chapters, focussing on immersion education and the role of francophone schooling in the development of cultural identity in a minority environment as well as on teacher education.
