Past presidents
Since its foundation as Bytown College in 1848, the University of Ottawa as had many exceptional leaders at its helm.
* The title "Rector" was first used in 1889, the year the University received a pontifical charter. Heads of the College in earlier years used the term "superior". In 2004, the English title "Rector" was replaced with "President".
