Human Rights Office

The Human Rights Office supports a learning and work environment that fosters understanding and respect for the University community, is free from harassment, discrimination and sexual violence, and is inclusive and accessible.

Mandate

To provide leadership and expert advice regarding creation, implementation and evaluation of policies, procedures and practices on:

  • inclusion
  • employment equity
  • accessibility
  • prevention of harassment and discrimination
  • sexual violence
  • students’ rights and responsible conduct

We are a neutral, impartial office that receives and responds to complaints related to human rights from all University community members. We also provide education and training, and offer guidance and consultation to community leaders on the above matters.

We're here to help

Indigenous Affirmation

We pay respect to the Algonquin people, who are the traditional guardians of this land. We acknowledge their longstanding relationship with this territory, which remains unceded.

We pay respect to all Indigenous people in this region, from all nations across Canada, who call Ottawa home.

We acknowledge the traditional knowledge keepers, both young and old. And we honour their courageous leaders: past, present, and future.
