All university community members have a right to a learning environment and workplace that is respectful, safe and free from harassment and discrimination. Below are the University policies on the prevention of violence, discrimination and harassment, as well as the respective complaints procedures.

Our Policies and Procedures

The Human Rights Office (HRO) is a neutral and impartial office responsible for receiving and responding to complaints related to human rights from all university community members. The HRO also provides education and training, and offers guidance and consultation to all community members on these matters. If you or someone you know is dealing with discrimination, harassment, or sexual violence, please contact the Human Rights Office.

The University's responsibility in the academic environment

The University of Ottawa is obligated to provide a learning and work environment free from harassment and discrimination. In accordance with Policy 67a - Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination and Ontario's Human Rights Code, everyone is to be treated with dignity and respect, and to be free from retaliation if they complain of inappropriate behavior.
