| The course is designed to lay a coherent foundation of theoretical and practical knowledge for sound nursing practice in relation to infectious diseases and problems of cross-infection. The course will include: BASIC MICROBIOLOGY. The nature of bacteria, their habitats, cultivation and identification; sterilization, disinfection and the principles of aseptic technique; major bacterial groups and their importance in disease, mode of transmission and control. VIROLOGY. The nature of viruses, their importance in medical and nursing practice and the special problems they present. IMMUNOLOGY. Principles of immunity and the theory and practice of immunization. |

Description des bact�ries, de leur habitat, des m�thodes de culture et d'identification; principes de st�rilisation, de d�sinfection et description des techniques aseptiques; �tiologie des infections; mode de transmission et de pr�vention de ces infections. VIROLOGIE. Propri�t�s essentielles des virus, leur importance pour la m�decine et pour les soins infirmiers et les probl�mes particuliers qu'ils posent. IMMUNOLOGIE.
