The Second Language Institute offers several programs in French as a second language tailored to the needs and skill level of various groups of students: a basic minor, an advanced minor, and a major in French as a second language.
Students in these programs are encouraged to register for "immersion courses" that act as a bridge between language courses and subject-matter courses given in the students' second language. Immersion courses, taught by the subject-matter professor in collaboration with a language teacher, combine a regular course with a second-language course. Students in immersion courses are awarded credits for both the subject-matter course and the language course.
This program is reserved for non francophone students.
