The Lettres franaises programs comprise a variety of components and options. The purely literary courses acquaint students with the principal works of French, Qubec and Franco-Ontarian literatures, and with those of the world's other francophone communities. The language courses
(writing, syntax, vocabulary, rhetoric, philology,
text theory) lead to careers in writing, editing, communications and, naturally, teaching.
In the creative writing courses, students attracted to literary writing can present their works, improve their technique and reflect on the opportunities and challenges involved in creative writing today. Finally, courses focusing on publishing acquaint students with the theoretical and practical elements of that field.
