The D�partement des lettres fran�aises of the Faculty of Arts offers a wide variety of courses in the language and literatures of the French-speaking world. Language-based courses provide students with an in-depth knowledge of French as a means of expression and communication while sharpening their writing and reasoning skills. French and francophone literatures are studied from both an historical and formal perspective, on a theoretical and practical level (as in the creative writing courses).
