Environmental Issues |
(3,0,0) 3 cr. |
An inter-disciplinary examination of current environmental issues, including scientific aspects, socioeconomic concerns, environmental impacts, and remedial actions. Topics vary from year to year and can include biodiversity, renewable resources, energy, environmental contaminants, or specific issues such as CFC's, acid mine drainage, nuclear waste or oil spills. Emphasis is placed on student seminars and discussion. |
Prerequisites: BIO2129, EVS1101, GEO1111, GEO1115. For students in the Environmental Science programme only. |

Environmental Microbiology |
(3,0,0) 3 cr. |
An examination of microbes in the vast array of environments in which they occur, from wetlands and lake sediments, aquifers and deep crustal settings, to polar ice and desert surfaces. Emphasis on the roles that microbes play in biogeochemical cycles, redox processes, contaminant mobility, biodegradation, and ecosystem productivity. |
Prerequisite: BIO2129. |

Problmes environnementaux I |
(3,0,0) 3 cr. |

Prerequisite: BIO2529. |
