Aim of Program :

Based on guidelines developed by the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association (OECTA) and the Ontario Separate School Trustees Association (OSSTA), this three-session program is designed to provide applicants with a knowledge of fundamental principles and a pedagogical basis relative to the religious education in the Catholic schools of Ontario. Emphasis is placed on modern research findings concerning instructional strategies appropriate to the presentation of religious education to children, adolescents and adults. Using andragogical principles as a basis, the methodology includes lectures, seminars, practicum and independent research. Upon successful completion of each part of the program, the names of applicants will be presented to OECTA for recommendation to the Ontario College of Teachers for the appropriate additional qualification.
