The Native Teacher Education Program, Baccalaureate in Education is offered part-time over two-years and consists of three elements: course work delivered through distance education or in person, time in classrooms under the supervision of the mentor teachers, and practice teaching. Candidates in this cohort take their courses in the summer at the University, and those offered in the fall and winter semesters are given through distance education. The student teachers in this program have 60 days of practice teaching divided into three practica.
Successful completion of the Native Teacher Education Program leads to certification by the Ontario College of Teachers to teach in the Primary/Junior division (junior kindergarten to grade 6).
