Faculty of Science
SERVICES OFFERED BY THE SCHOOL
CENTRE FOR ACADEMIC SUCCESS
The centre is open to all first-year students at the Faculty of
Science. The coordinator, Charles Wolfe, helps students make the
transition from high school to university. He advises students on
effective learning strategies and encourages them when they face
academic problems or other challenges.
Even though this service targets first-year science students, Mr.
Wolfe always has time for upper class science students who may
need his experience.
The centre for academic success is located in MacDonald Hall,
Room 324 and is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to
Thursday.
MATH DROP IN CENTRE
If students are having difficulty succeeding in first-year math
courses, the Math Drop-in Centre is one of the many helpful free
services available.
It is a classroom, staffed by one or more consultants who can
answer mathematics questions. To get the full benefit of the centre,
it is recommended to always come prepared with specific
questions. The centre is located in Room B-3, 585 King Edward
Ave. (KED). It is open Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Special sessions are offered during the study period of each
session.
YOUR SCIENCE BUDDIES
This service is for first-year science students who wish to meet
older and experienced students.
Located in Room 317 of MacDonald Hall, Your Science Buddies are
available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday to Thursday.
COMPUTER LABORATORIES
Students registered to a science course have the possibility of using
the computers in the science computer laboratories located at the
Cube, 160 Louis Pasteur. To obtain access to one of the 55
computers, students must have a computer account. To get an
account, students must go in person to the Cube (160 Louis
Pasteur) with their student card and their InfoWeb password.
The operating hours of the Cube are from 8:15 a.m. to 11 p.m. on
weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.
SCIENCE STUDENTS' ASSOCIATION
The Science Students Association (SSA) is an organization of
undergraduate science students and that includes everyone who is
registered in the Faculty of Science. This non-profit organization
has developed into a major player in the Faculty of Science.
The Science Students Association is responsible for the
organization of activities during the orientation days in September,
as well as several activities during the academic year such as
career week. Locker registration is also their responsibility.
